Lusaka Cold Storage

What we delivered

For Lusaka Cold Storage, we designed and installed a 559.44 kWp solar PV system built from 1008 Trina 555 W panels, feeding five 100 kW Huawei inverters for a total of 500 kW of inverter capacity. The system integrates renewable energy into a facility that previously relied on grid and generator power, cutting operating costs and fuel use.

An Elum controller manages the plant, coordinating solar output with the site's existing generator and utility grid connection for seamless power distribution. The system maintains a minimum generator load of 200 kW with solar supplying the remaining demand, and is currently set to zero export to the grid pending a supply agreement.

Our solution delivers reliable, clean energy to the cold storage operation, significantly reducing fuel consumption while ensuring a stable, uninterrupted power supply across the facility.
